Research

Historical research is necessary for the completion of professional and personal projects - books, theses, family history, genealogy. However, resources needed for these types of research are often difficult due to issues of digitization, translation, access, and time. For those that are interested in topics relating to Hawaiʻi and the Pacific, I can help ease this often arduous process. Assisting with the collection of research materials from databases and archives will lessen the work and frustration of the interested party. Skills that can assist completing research for clients includes knowledge of primary source material of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific, comprehension of Hawaiian language, and experience working with archives across the Hawaiian islands.

Provenance

The history of the acquisition of objects often gets lost in time, making it frustrating for descendants, collectors, and consumers. This becomes problematic with this information is needed, whether it be for insurance purposes, tracking style trends, or curiosity.  With my background in Art History and Visual Arts, I can help to expand the small characteristics and details of objects and frame them within a larger historical context. This includes, but is not limited to, furniture, jewelry, clothing, and print ephemera.

Curation

My background in history has developed my ability to create narratives and tell a story. This translates well into curation; keeping the audience in mind is essential to successfully getting across information. This can be easily blended with the style of the client. Styling of spaces may be the truest expression of the self and I want to help present that visually.
